I have worked for over 25 years at a paint factory in a Chicago suburb. I felt a lot of pain in my chest this past January and had an x-ray to determine if anything was wrong. The x-ray showed nothing. I felt progressively worse and my breathing was labored so I had another x-ray in late April. This one showed a massive amount of fluid in my left chest cavity. I was told to go to emergency to have it treated. They removed about 1 liter of fluid from my left side but would not take all the fluid. I then sent to another specialist who took out the rest of the fluid (another liter)and conducted a biopsy of the tissue around the lining of my left lung. The result of the biopsy was that the entire bottom half of my left lung had Mesothelioma. They used a procedure called a "talc" to re-attach the top of my left lung and re-inflate it, but nothing could be done to re-inflate the bottom due to the scar tissue from the Mesothelioma.
